Bringing Home the Bacon

When it comes to football, my heart will always belong to the USC Trojans. But I always enjoy watching the NFL and nothing's bigger than Super Bowl Sunday. My brother and I have a tradition of ordering pizza and wings, but this year I wanted to make these cheesy bacon tots from a Super Bowl party I attended a couple of years ago.

Cheesy Bacon Tots

Makes 12 tots (double or triple the recipe for more)

Ingredients:

  • 12 frozen tater tots, defrosted

  • 12 pieces of sharp cheddar cheese, cubed

  • Frank's Hot Sauce (I used the Buffalo Wing version)

  • Bacon

  • Toothpicks

Directions:

  1. Defrost the tater tots and slice in half. Be careful not to cut through completely.

  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F

  3. Dip the cheese in hot sauce and place in the middle of the tater tot.

  4. Wrap the bacon around the tot and use a toothpick to hold it all together.

  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until bacon becomes crisp on the outside.

  6. Plate with a paper towel underneath to absorb excess oil.

  7. Serve alone or with a side of ranch or hot sauce.
