LA, You're One-of-a-Kind

Living in Los Angeles, I am continually in awe of the various events that are made available to us on any given day. This weekend I attended an one-of-a-kind event, Unique LA's 2nd Annual Summer Show in Santa Monica. I love the idea of this event because it really drives home the idea of supporting local businesses and communities, specifically Los Angeles. This event allowed me to speak directly to the designers and learn about their backgrounds and what drove them to create these products.

There was no shortage of unique items to purchase. For the low price of $10 admission you had access to locally produced food, purses, clothing, jewelry, wall art - you name it, it was there. Being a huge foodie myself, I had to resist the urge to buy up all the sweets and instead settled for a single salted caramel brownie choc. I've also been on a ring fix lately and was able to snap one up from Heather Belle Co. and Jesse & Co.

My favorite part of this 2 day event was actually the free activities they offered! My friends and I had fun taking photo booth pictures and receiving a freshly screenprinted California T-shirt.  I don't really get starstruck, but I do have to admit that I was a bit starstruck when I approached the DIY table. It was there that I had the opportunity to meet and craft with Jenni from I Spy DIY and Aimee from SwellMayde. Seriously, I was DYING. As a DIY fan myself and a fan of both their blogs, it was such a privilege to be sitting at the same table and crafting with them.

I had so much fun the first day of Unique LA that I had to come back the next day. Too bad I can't attend their next show in NYC, but I can't wait until they're back in Los Angeles.
