What a Stud!

DIY

Last week in LA we got a glimpse of the chilly weather fall has in store for us, but since this is LA it quickly passed and we're now returning to our usual sunny days of high 80's and low 90's. As much as I'm dying for the brisk days of fall, I'm actually loving this prolonged summer weather because it gives me an excuse to wear my new favorite shorts - which I DIY'ed of course.

Studs were a huge trend this summer and I saw a ton of amazing ways to add a DIY flair to it. Some of my favorites from Pinterest included:

Since we were still suffering the Indian Summer when I decided to tackle this DIY, I chose to revamp one of my denim shorts. This was one of the easiest DIY's I've ever done, it was so simple that I didn't want to stop and I had to resist myself from added studs to everything in my closet. This is a great project to do if you consider yourself artistically challenged because it's as simple as 1, 2, 3, plus the possibilities are endless!

Studded Denim Shorts

Supplies:

  • A pair of denim shorts

  • Pyramid studs (I got mine from Etsy)

  • Pliers (if necessary)

Directions:

  1. Place your shorts on the table and decide what design you’d like to put on them. I chose a stair step pattern on both sides of the legs, but you can do whatever you'd like.

  2. Lay out your design.

  3. Use the prongs to push through the fabric, it should be fairly easy and press the prongs closed on the other side using your hands or pliers. Repeat, if needed.Note: Make sure the prongs are completely closed or else you’ll end up with them scratching against your skin.

  4. Enjoy!
