Picture Perfect
A couple of weeks ago A and I went up to NorCal to attend E's white coat ceremony at UC Davis. Since she has always been incredibly supportive of my DIY tendencies, I wanted to make something for her.
One of my favorite and easiest DIY projects is personalizing a picture frame. Simply head over to Michael's and pick up a wooden picture frame, some acrylic paint, a paint brush and you're good to go. After painting the frame, I like to dress it up and personalize it by adding embellishments I find in the scrapbook section - like chipboard letters, 3D stickers, etc. Add a picture of the person you're giving it to and it makes a memorable gift.
However, when it came time to make this gift for E, I couldn't find my usual frame at Michael's. Instead, I had to go the semi-home made route. Running short on time and options, I decided to stop by Target and was able to find an already painted picture frame. I noticed there was extra space and decided to add my own flair to it.
Supplies:
Picture frame
Chipboard letters or any other embellishments
E-6000 adhesive
Directions:
Figure out what design you want to put on the picture frame. If you're spelling something out make sure you have enough letters, something I've learned from previous attempts.
Lay your design on the frame exactly how you want it to look.
Glue the pieces onto the frame and allow them to dry for a couple of hours.4. Print out a picture and insert it into the frame. (I skipped this step because the picture I wanted to go inside the frame wouldn't have been taken until that day.)
Wrap it up!
