This is my Jam!

First of all, I have the greatest roommates EVER. When we first met, I never would have thought that we'd be as close as we are now. These days I can hardly bear to part from them and if you know me, that is not common. True friends are those who will wake up at 7Am in the summer to eat breakfast at 8AM with you before jetting off to work. I'm so blessed that I know individuals like this and I can't believe today will be the last time we will all see each other for a while. =(

Of course we had to go out with a bang at our new favorite (as of this morning!) breakfast/brunch cafe on Melrose Avenue, Blu Jam Cafe. I had previously heard of Blu Jam Cafe through rave reviews of their eggs benedict. Eggs benedict just happen to be my favorite brunch item and it was only a matter of time before I tried their version. However, once I opened the menu the first item that caught my eye was their Crunchy French Toast. I mean how could I resist? It was their signature item!

The Crunchy French Toast is described as "egg brioche dipped in batter, rolled in crunchy corn flakes and grilled to perfection, topped with fresh bananas and berries, served with vanilla bean sauce." Isn't your mouth watering already?

So I went out on a limb and ordered the french toast instead of my usual eggs benedict and I'm so glad I did! It was the best french toast I've ever had. The brioche bread was nice and soft, while the cornflakes provided the perfect amount of contrasting flaky crunch. I ended up trying some of A's Blu Jam Benedict and I liked that their hollandaise sauce had a bit of a kick to it, but it was no where as amazing as the Crunchy French Toast. Not much of a breakfast person, E got Turkey Pesto Panini which was pretty good, but personally I would have rather have this dish at lunch instead of breakfast.

Overall, I loved Blu Jam Cafe - it's a nice place to meet and catch up with friends for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. My personal fave from this trip would have to be the Crunchy French Toast, which both A and E can agree was the best of the three dishes we ordered.
